Out Of Office
Project Background: Out Of Office (2025) is a short film by Kialy Tihngang, produced by Too Happy Studios and Forest of Black, with support from Jupiter Artland and the National Lottery through Creative Scotland. The film was created as part of the inaugural Too Happy Commission, a pilot programme to support emerging artists in Scotland’s moving image scene. Out Of Office premiered at the Glasgow Short Film Festival and is a bold, satirical commentary on corporate culture, power dynamics, and structural injustice. Project Objectives: The aim was to bring Kialy Tihngang’s distinctive artistic vision to life through visual effects that would complement the film’s surreal, retrofuturistic aesthetic. The VFX work needed to blend seamlessly with the film’s elaborate sets, costumes, and stylised performances, supporting its oppression, absurdity, and resistance themes. Deliverables: VFX & Post-Production Support: I worked closely with the director throughout the production and post-production phases to create a series of bespoke visual effects sequences. Creative Collaboration: My role involved translating Tihngang’s imaginative concepts into vivid on-screen moments, ensuring alignment with the film’s darkly humorous tone and striking visual language. Technical Execution: VFX solutions were designed to enhance narrative elements, elevate surreal transitions, and support key visual motifs throughout the film.
